I have decided to become a little more selfsustainable with the help of the family. Started with chickens.
Now I have PET chickens, egg laying chickens, and chickens estined for freezer camp, and my family has nicknamed me the crazy chicken lady. They say that in fun cause I told them I was getting a few and ended up with between 140 and 150 CHICKENS. There are also a few ducks and a pair of guineas thrown in the mix!!!LOL
To add to the selfsustainability, I also bought two pigs and my sister named them Ham and Bacon. I am hoping to get another pig in the near future.

snakes alive!!!
A few days a go, I went to check for eggs in our chicken coop and there was a 3 1/2 foot long black snake in the run with thhe chickens.. At first, I tried to catch the snake to relocate it, but the snake was very aggressive. My daughter got a shovel and we hit the snake a few times so it was dying. I then took it out to the road for driversby to finish it off...
I was feeling really bad about the whole affair until my husband came home with pizza in hand, and while we weere eating pizza said, "who killed the moccasin in the road". At which point I totally lost my appetite......
I mean POISONOUS snake???!!!??? I carried that thing out to the road by its tail while it was hissing!!!
OMG!!!!
Not my brightest moment for sure!!
