Sorry I haven't been posting blogs but I have been busy with my little part of the world building my little empire I call my backyard homestead...
Since last I was here, i have rounded up my family and we have now acquired 2 Yorkshire hogs. The female is Porkchop and the male is named Wilbur and are quite adorable if you don't mind getting muddy.
Along with the hogs, there are also six mallard ducks, six guineas, and about 250 assorted chickens and chicks of various ages...ranging from days old to laying age..
Recently I traded a hog and some chickens and got some goats. We started out with four goats. The first two are ala Manchester female called Sally Anne, and a Nigerian buckling we call billy joe. The last pair we got was a pygmy mix male called Samson and a pregnant Nubian female we named Delilah. We lost Delilah in childbirth, we believe to breech birth. It was a very sad day for us here.
Rest in peace Delilah.
Another thing we have done is stock our little pond with channel catfish and bluegill and now have fish. Yum yum!!!
I have been thinking about getting a cow...we have about three acres of undeveloped land that we could put one in....hmmm.    Anyone got a highland cow they want to give me and some fencing for it? We will surely appreciate it.!!
